My boat motor is leaking black oil out down by the prop?
My boat motor is leaking black oil out down by the prop?? i started it up the other day in the back yard when I turned it off I looked down close to the prop and black oil was dripping out! its a 1972 crysler 70hp anyone???
Just to be clear, jtexas knows his outboards, but I'm sure he and agree that some burnt oil drips from a thru prop exhaust are normal, but your engine exhaust at the back of the cavitation plate. (the fin) area. So, I'd pull the prop off, and look for fishing line etc. You might need to put a new Prop Shaft Seal , and check or change the gear lube.
