How Does Marine Audio Compare With Car Audio???
I'm setting up my Jeep for offroad use and I got the idea that I could install a nice marine-specific Clarion headunit and speaker combo since I plan to ride through a lot of water and mud. Is this a good idea? I'm not sure how marine audio compares to car audio performance-wise. Can anyone help?
i have a jeep also and have had the same thought. honestly there is no need, even if things get really wet, Marine Gear is a bit more sealed up to prevent leaks under extreme drenching, and it is designed to withstand direct sunlight better. performance wise they are comparable and that clarion is a nice deck, face plate is a bit busy though. anyway i digress, the main difference i see is price, The Marine stuff costs a bit more for what you get. but honestly unless your going to splash watter directly onto the deck, i think your'll be alright with any after market radio. the conections made at installation are a much more vulnerable to moisture than the deck itself is.
