WaterWolrd the movie: I'm interested in how the trimaran form WaterWorld works.?

Where can i see how he has his puuly systems setup, that is what I'd love to see, and where the counterwaits fall, diagrams of how his boat transforms form a trawler to a sail ready "looking" boat, i know they built 2 one for sailing n 1 to do all that fancy stuff, it may sound silly, but idc I'm working on building a half size model so it'll only be a 30footer, but i'd like to build it nex to exactly like his, i know a bit bout block and tackles, but I'm trying to figure it out all form the movie, I have designs made for what I've seen, but building a second or extremely modifing The Boat would be to exspensive, so I'd like to make sure, so is there a site where they show me stuff like pully systems on his boat, or even some others boat.

You might find some books on sailing and different rigs. Didn't he have a self-furling jib? And some spring-loaded gizmos?

Well, it's been so long since I saw it I don't know for sure, but I'd bet that most of those devices exist; if you can talk with an experienced racing yachtsman or read some sail racing magazines I think you'd find out a lot. I think you're right that at least some of that stuff rigged to the halliards used counterweights. But they did not show how he "loaded" them, which would have been arduous.

Oh, yeah, don't forget that they can cheat to make impossible stuff look doable in movies, by directing the lens away from the crane, or masking it out of the final work.

I read a story once where a team was assembled and showed documentation of some crackpot who had invented an antigravity device, and was then killed, before revealing the secret. The team was asked to reconstruct his work from his notes, which were all gibberish, and his library, which was packed with books on every imaginable subject.

In a year they had come up with something that actually got a one-ton machine off the ground a few inches. Then they were told that the character was made up, just to make sure they didn't waste time in claiming that it couldn't be done.
