Overfill and tilt adjustment system?
I have a Sprint 1990 Bass Pro 266 with an outboard motor 1990 115 HP Mercury. I recently replaced the engine set off, but one day after installing the new, it has failed. When I removed, I have noticed that the cutting fluid was in the electric motor, causing it to fail. She returned to the seller (who sent me a replacement). However, I was told that the liquid obtained in the engine, because the saturated system. I told the Merc service manual says you must fill the system up the liquid is visible on the net deposit filling. Thus, it can not overflow. Any surplus would be at the top. I was told that you have to fill the system with the engine off. Now it is totally contrary to what I see in the manual Mercury. In fact, there is a warning label on the big boat that says you should not open the filler cap with the unit clipped. That sounds good to someone?
It is true, filled with the engine (car) down. The reason, if you fill the engine until the oil extra Rams (hydraulic cylinders) and then when you lower the unit extra oil was only one place to go in the tank. But if you do not know and the manual is unclear on this point. Easily confused. It is good to give another bomb. How do I do this is to fill with it down, raise and lower the bottom and let the air settle, then top up. Councils Chief, I would just under the wire (do not touch the hole). The bombs used a small air hole in the filling screw. Sure as to clear the paint and let the rubber seal so you wind (not screw all the way). It does not leak. I like to write and call the manufacture on the manual and it should clarify that it could be a printing error and the need to correct.
