my 55hp chrysler outboard wont go forward and backward?

I get 55hp Chrysler outboard (Boat Engine )wont go forward or backward.I check the throttle and shift cable in the control box it look OK to me. what cause the problem? please help.

disconnect the cable at the engine and see if you can shift it at the engine. If so there is a break in the cable or the cable is sticking. If not gear case clutch dog has gone bad.
